dealing with imported features and or curves

It's been about 15 years since I worked on a particular set of drawings
that has some of it's model details depicted as imported Iges curves.

I saw several layers of Imported (flat Iges) Features and one layer of just
plane old manual Curves.

We no longer have the software that generated the original Imported Iges
Curves and I'm wondering if there is a way to explode and edit the imported
data and just copying and moving it around?

Any Imported Iges Curve Feature gurus out there? Any words of wisdom from
the group?

Again, I'm trying to patch up an old drawing package and trying to decide
to make new Curves from scratch or explode one of the Imported features and
use copy paste, move and trim techniques.

I'm running Wildfire 4 M170.
