Hello,
I have a simple model to show my problem. The cantilever beam can move to down only. The other direcion (red) is limited by a body.
So there is a contact interface between the body and the beam. I would like to complate a modal (and later a dynamic) simulation but theye dont allow the contact interfaces. (Free and bonded only). I think, the limitation has an effect on the modal analysis. What could you suggest to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot
Roland
Roland,
You cannot solve this problem with Simulate or any other linear modal solver.
It is a non-linear vibration, stiffness is a function of position.
An explicit solver is required, there are no natural frequencies.
Otherwise, roughly,
When the beam is not contacting then its natural frequencies apply
When in contact then the frequencies of the 2 parts (joined) apply - ignoring sliding/friction
OK, I understand your answer and thanks a lot!
What do you think, can this problem be solved in Ansys mechanical?
