Creo 3.0 Java toolkit licencing

Do you need an end user runtime licence for Java Toolkit?

for the user that uses the written app, not the developer, just to be clear.

the reason is that i would like to buy (as a private person) a small-ish j-toolkit script that would help me with my work, as my company doesn't want to pay for it (for all users in that case).

Is that lic included by default in a standard creo installation by any chance?

i don't know the actual names, but i work on 2 computers, depending on location. one has also mechanica, UDF... (a lot more features), the other has only the basic "drafing licence"? i would need it only on either one of them.

Hello Robert,

There are 2 type of license available with Java.

  1. J-Link
  2. Java Object Toolkit

1. J-Link

  • Free License availabe you can use at any basic license of the CREO
  • 50% of the Creo tools can be automate
  • You need to choose this option during creo installation or you can reconfigure your creo

2. Java Object Toolkit

  • Costlier License required
  • Almost 80% of Creo tools can autmate and much more efficient functions than j-link, more tools accesiblity options
  • End users can use this application without License (Application must be unlocked, unlocking required licensed version i.e unlocking system should contain Object toolkit License)

Can it be unlocked on another machine or only at the end user? maybe i could persuade the VAR to deploy it once they deploy Creo 3 (or 4)...

By object toolkit licence you mean the Developer licence (mentioned in the above video for example)? because the company definitely doesn't have that.

It can unlocked in developer machine which contains license. after unlocked the application you can use the application at user end.

It depends on the CREO version which the develper license version. If developer has CREO 3.0 license it should be works on all other system CREO 3.0 version.

Hello all,

As a PTC Technical Support Engineer, I'd like to shed some light on the Java Object Toolkit licensing and set expectations right: a license is required on both developer and runtime side and unlocking has no effect on licensing.

More information is available in our Knowledge Base: https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS190307

Access to the KB requires your login and a running maintenance contract.

Thank you for your understanding.

will Creo OTK Java FREE continue to get expanded with new creo releases or will it remain as is?

I would like to know, if object Java toolkit is available in all licenses of creo? Is there any extra cost for use this? Only for developer or also for users?

By the way, has j link the capability of creating modeling features? Which languages can create modeling features?
Has j link the capability of introducing udf ?

This is very disappointing - why is it not the same as object C++ toolkit licensing?

This is a major dis-incentive to using Object toolkit Java

I wonder how take up of OTK Java has been hit by this?
