Packaged Equipment Engineer - Competition 2010-16 - Calgary, AB, Canada

The Position:
The Machine Science Group of the Technical Services Division has an opening for an engineer to take on a lead role in the management of design, engineering and analysis projects across all three of NAIAD’s sectors of interest (aerospace, manufacturing and energy), with a particular emphasis on oil and gas packaged equipment. The position reports to the Director of Engineering.
The primary responsibilities of the position encompass the traditional definition of a project engineer, with the overall mandate of seeing projects through completion within budgets, schedules and quality expectations. Resource allocation, progress tracking, client relationship, deliverable verification, and internal QA procedure development & implementation form the core of the position. The project engineer will coordinate the workload of engineers and designers, and directly supervise project services personnel in document and configuration control, technical writing, procurement and quality control.
The project engineer will also be required to perform hands-on engineering tasks related to ASME pressure vessel and piping design and piping system stress analysis, utilizing pertinent code-based software available commercially.
The position is located in Calgary, Alberta and is open to professional engineers registered in Canada. No relocation package is available. The position is not open to seekers of Canadian work-visas.
Mandatory qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S in mechanical engineering degree or physics degree, and a minimum of three years of continuous practice as a registered professional engineer in Canada.
  • A minimum of four years of Oil and Gas experience at the manufacturing or EPCM level, working directly with the design of packaged equipment governed by ASME and API codes
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGGA
  • Thorough applied knowledge of ASME BPVC code, ASME B31.3 code and CSA z661 code
  • Stamping experience with PFD and P&ID drawings related to packaged equipment
  • Proven experience and expertise in equipment design project management
  • Demonstrable expertise in client & stakeholder interactions and negotiations

AdditionalQualifications:
The project engineer must be able to perform the following tasks and demonstrate, as a minimum, a willingness and capability to learn how to:
  • Perform pressure vessel calculations (e.g.: DesignCalc, Compress and PVElite)
  • Perform piping system stress analysis (e.g.: Caesar II and Autopipe)
  • Performing valve sizing
  • Registering vessels and piping systems with ABSA and BCSA
  • Managing an ISO 9001-comliant quality management system
