Hi there. I built a pretty typical 4-axis desktop CNC machine with an ‘A’ axis which rotates in the positive X direction and controlled by Mach3 on a USB controller. Overall it works well for any 3 axis milling/roughing/surfacing operations. See below configuration.Unfortunately when I go to set up an indexed 4-axis program, the included post processors in Creo skip the NC path’s rotate command:AAXIS, ATANGL, -90.000000and do not include it in the exported .tap/ G-code. I assume this is normal as most of the included post processors are only for 3-axis machines.However, I have attempted to “roll my own” using the included option file developer, turn on a 4th axis option, and using the UNCX01.P11 post processor as a base model, but no luck so far.The material removal simulation in Creo shows the appropriate rotation happening. I can also manually type in the “A -90.0” command into the exported G-code in the proper spot, which works great on the machine and allows me to accomplish my g

I’ve been trying to make a spiral tool path that starts on the OD of a part and winds inward until it reaches a step in the part where I would like the toolpath to make a finish circle around the step.I’ve come very close by using edge of a curve by equation and a sketched diameter, but for whatever reason, Creo seems to want to retract before it is done. Ideally it would stop and start within the tooth area.This is a 40” diameter part with the step on the outside being .017” +/-.001, so I am trying to get the best finish I can on this surface. I am thinking this will be around 20 windings as it works its way to the center diameter.I don’t really like the result of cutline or volume milling. I’m not sure why trajectory isn’t working exactly as I see it should either. Maybe if the whole path could be created by a curve by equation it would?
For whatever reason, Creo does not offer the ability to set a default clearance distance per machine. I do not always remember all the travels on our machines and would like to set default clearance values to solve that issue.I basically want to set a relation that states:IF work cell = "insert machine name"clearance = XX.XXHowever to do this, I need to know the parameter names to pull for the work center and the clearance, and I do not know them. Does anyone know what those parameters are, or know a better way to do this?
Hola - We use CreoNC extensively - however, we use Vericut for simulation and never have built a machine model for use within Creo. I’m attempting to do that now.At no point have I been able to make the kinematic machine model appear in the Creo NC window. I’ve read the (thin) information available. I’ve asked Gemini. I then went to the Knowledge Base and downloaded the FADAL VMC file (close enough to the vertical mill I created) and I can’t get that to work either.I am using Windchill - maybe that’s the issue since I don’t have the machine in the pro_mfg_workcell folder, though I did browse to where it is and it accepted the entry.I also cannot find “Machine Play” anywhere, either in NC or ProProcess.Licensing issue? TIA

I can complete all aspects of processing a model into a machined part except the output file needed for my machine. I have simple 3 axis proto tack SMX controller that needs a .gcd file output. I can only save and view my CL data into an .ncl format. W use Creo 10.0.3.0. Any assistance with post processors?

I’ve found an alternative to expensive post processors for Creo. I’ve been testing ManusNC and it’s pretty good. Easy to develop your own post processor for any machine tool and supports Creo NC. I am using Creo Parametric Release 8.0 and Datecode8.0.12.0The mapkey doesn't wait for the simulation to end in the Material Removal (Module Works).Once the simulation is started in the Module Works window, all buttons except the Stop button are disabled until the simulation ends.How can I add a script to the mapkey that queries the window and waits for the simulation to end?Thanks
I'm using Creo 11 w/ Complete Machining Extension. I'm trying to learn 5-axis milling capabilities of Creo and I want to have a full tool library curated by someone else. I have downloaded the "Tooling Library" from PTC page "Legacy Creo Libraries".https://www.ptc.com/en/support/enablement/AdditionalCreolibraries Can anyone teach me or send me documentation on how to make use of the tools inside of Creo. For every .prt file of a tool there seems to be a corresponding .mnu file and there are 3 or 4 .exe. I imagine there is a way to view the .mnu files in a master menu with graphics, but I don't know. PTC is adding AI capabilities into Creo. I wonder what capabilities you hope to see in a Creo NC AI integration? - speeds and feeds calculation - tool creation based on part topology - sequence creation - optimize toolpath approach and exit - reuse a machining strategy from prior - check for errors and collision - etc Let me know in the comments

Creo Parametric 4-12. Mold design/Casting application of shrink by scale for anisotropic shrink. When applying a shrink by scale feature a reference csys is used to apply the shrink. Can anyone offer some insight into how/why the selection of this csys is important? What are the criteria that should be used to determine the "best" csys for use with anisotropic shrink applied to a design part (reference model). Can anyone offer best practices based on theory or practical experience? I am focused on injection molded polymers in this context if that matters. I would default to the use of a csys located by determining the centroid of the reference part being shrunk, but this is an educated guess.
I am trying to find a good way to set a collision or avoidance region away from my fixture. Is this even possible within creo, or is everything just set automatically? I know you can't add the fixture as a check surface in any of the operations because it isn't the reference model. So where exactly can you configure your fixtures avoidance regions?

Hello all, Does anyone have an example of how to use G93 in programming 4 axis contouring work with Creo Manufacturing? We have a machine with this capability and I'd like to try it. So far I have been able to get the post to put G93 in the right places, but it puts a F0. for feedrate. Even if it did work, I am not sure how this really works. G93 as I understand it interprets feed commands as inverse time. So if my feedrate in IPM is 100, but G93 is active, the move will occur in 1/100 seconds? How can that be right? A short move takes longer than 100IPM would linearly and a long move takes the same amount of time so it moves much faster than 100IPM? Maybe I am misunderstanding how that works, but that is how I read it. Thank you for any help!Matt
We would like to have three additional fields added in Creo NC for the tool type “Reaming”: “tip angle”, “tip offset”, and “tip diameter”. "Picture 1 Reaming" Our colleagues in programming would like to control the depth during programming—similar to “Drilling” and “Thread Cutting”—using these additional fields.This would be a considerable relief during programming, as the chamfer/lead-in of the reamer would no longer need to be added to the depth manually.
