Thanks for the reply, but I still don't get what I need to do to resolve the license issue.
A locked license file is intended to be used alone, without using any License Management Application, whereas a floating license file is intended to be managed by a License Management Application installed on the server machine.
Check first if License file is Floating or Locked.

I applied for the Mathcad 30 days trial license and got an email with the license file. I am not sure if the license file is floating or locked, and I am NOT running the software remotely. I have contacted one of the sales and was told to post any questions here. I would really appreciate if anyone can help me solve this problem soon.
Did you activate through here? Does it show that the licence has been acquired?
Yes, I did. The license is a file. When I click Apply after directing the File path to the license, the status says Invalid in red as shown below:
Hi
Has this ever got a licence form a server before?
Is your problem similar to this?
Solved: Trial License and limits in student editions - PTC Community
Perhaps request @rghadge to have a look at the file.
No, I have never had a server license.
The error message I got is the same as Solved: Trial License and limits in student editions - PTC Community
However, I am accessing the software on local computer with a local license file (not remotely)
Thank for helping!
@rghadge Could you please help me look at my Trial license file?
It kept giving me error: "Terminal Server Remote Client Not Allowed" or "(-103) Cannot checkout an uncounted license within a windows terminal services guest session. when I tried to upload the file.
Thank you!
Hi
I am just a mathcad user and I do not work for PTC. You will have to get in touch with PTC for licence help. But you may wish to try to get another licence by using another email address and see if that helps.
Hi @Shasha
The observed error "(-103) Cannot checkout an uncounted license within a windows terminal services guest session" is expected to occur when you launch Mathcad by taking remote access (Remote Desktop Protocol) of machine where Mathcad is installed.
Trial licenses are generally node-locked licenses. And, node locked licenses will not work when accessed on a machine remotely. One needs to physically log in to machine where software is installed and then use it.
Thanks for your reply!
I am aware that the license cannot be accessed remotely, and I am accessing the machine locally. The error message occured with the local access of Mathcad.
In that case, see if any Remote Services are running on your machine.
I checked the license again. It is now magically running as "Active". I didn't change anything on the computer. It might have been remote services running on the machine that I did not know about.
Anyhow, glad it's working now, Thank you for your support!
