Hi All,
I have an older version of PTC software.
It is Prime 2.0.
This does all my needs.
I had to re-install it recently because it was hanging up or closing down while it was uploading.
Just days before it did an automatic online license check, and it passed.
I had Prime 2.0 for several years since it first came out.
On attempting to re-install its failing to do so.
Message is about a component was not installed.
The screenshot is attached (Error2).
I have installed WindChill....software.
I direct the browser to the license file (single user).
The install continues and then stop with this message.
Error 1935 An error occurred during the installation of assembly component.
Next a file name in brackets [.......].
Followed by HRESULT:0x80073712.
That is the information I have on my failed install.
I will appreciate any and all help you have to get me back on with Prime 2.0.
PS: The first error is indicated in file name Errorr.
The 2nd error the most recent re-install error details provided above is in file Errorr2.
This happens during the installation at Mathcad PDSi viewable support.
Screen shot on this is Errorr3.
Regards,
Karl Bogha.
Hi @KarlBogha,
Thank you for your question!
Your post appears well documented but has not yet received any response. I am replying to raise awareness. Hopefully, another community member will be able to help.
Also, feel free to add any additional information you think might be relevant.
Best regards,
Hi Ms Catalina,
I replied to you via email on this that I will be back on it soon.
I have cleaned the registry on Prime and Mathcad, maybe need to specifically pick Windchill...
Which I now remember I may have not done so. Though it was uninstalled.
I re-installed it yesterday and it went thru the process like the last time where it failed.
It stalled at the same spot on 'PSDi' section of the installation which maybe the last part on install.
This time I got the file name the error message listed, which maybe a registry file, but I failed AGAIN to find this file in my registry. File in brackets below
{98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}.
It also gave the same the error message on the dialogue box HRESULT:0x80073712.
Hi Ben Loosli,
I am unable to reply to your post.
My browser does not let me pass thru 'Reply'.
It maybe because you got your arms locked in a tight grip or hard across the screen! - Can't tell.
So, my reply to you is vis-a-vis Catalina.
I hope you are able to help/assist me on this because I am in the midst of using it in a study.
Should you need my mobile number here in NZ I can email it to you.
Then, you may be able to help me via phone with me on the pc.
Hey, you may remotely do it too.
I will however, go back and look for Windchill registry.
I have gone back and removed everything on Prime and Mathcad.
My next step is clean the registry of Windchill.... Make sure I done it completely and re-install again.
File attached on the error message.
Regards,
Karl.
While I don't use MathCAD Prime, there ae some things to be aware of.
All versions of MathCAD prior to Prime 7 can no longer be sold due to a sub module licensing issue.
Have you tried to completely remove the original installation of Prime 2, including a search through the registry to delete any remnant traces to it? When I do Windchill installs, I always clean the registry of any traces of the prior location that Windchill was installed in.
Hi Ben,
I just got thru to reply to you.
I'll reply the same again to you as I did to Ms Catalina.

Hello All at PTC Prime-Mathcad,
First thanks for the help so far, I made some progress.
I got busy with my work and did not get back to this.
I have gotten past the PSDi installation!
This was an Adobe associated file that got installed separately during the recent installation a few days ago.
But I am having a hang-up with a new error message.
It may have to do with a Microsoft Net file from the Windows 7 and 8 days.
I got an error message log file after the installation process this time.
It appears after I click on the Mathcad Prime icon.
Which is a step better than the last time.
Error message: 'An Unhandled exception occurred on the dispatcher thread'.
Followed by the file location on my computer.
The error log file is attached.
You out there at PTC Prime-Mathcad may be able to help me with this.
Appreciate your assistance.
FYI: I am gaining practical type skills from a book titled 'Marine Auxiliary Machinery' 7th edition by H D McGeorge.
It's a type of 'product manual' engineering book. Reading only no end of chapter problems.
Regards,
Karl.
Hello LucMeekes and VladimirN,
You got me started in the right direction.
Together with VladimirN help I made some progress.
I deleted the config file which was in a folder with some other Mathcad-Prime files.
These were not needed ad were from a previous installation.
Got that out of the way.
Next, clicked the Mathcad icon and it got up.
The top of the page said "I do not have a valid license".
Ok. So I clicked on <LicenseStatus>.
Browsed to my license file.
Which was in the C drive outside any folder and inside my user Karl folder.
Clicked on Apply, and both times got the same response or error message.
The error message is:
1/12/2025 6:30:22 PM : The license request failed.
Requesting MATHCAD ...
C:\Users\Karl\sw_license_email_1852110.dat: (-9) Invalid host.
I had 2 licenses for each computer.
The other was the 2nd and that reply was:
1/12/2025 6:46:24 PM : The license request failed.
Requesting MATHCAD ...
C:\Users\Karl\sw_license_email_1708781.dat: (-10) Feature has expired.
Gentlemen, I hope you are able to provide the finishing help on this.
Your assistance is much appreciated.
Regards,
Karl.
I'm afraid "feature has expired" relates to this: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad-Tips/Official-PTC-Mathcad-15-and-Prime-1-6-End-of-Sale-Announcement/ta-p/818870
The other error "invalid host" may be telling you that the MAC address of your PC does not match that of the license.
Note that you may have two MAC addresses in your PC, one for a wired network, the other for a wireless. Inspect the license file(s) and the MAC address(es) on your PC to see which one to use for licensing.
Success!

Karl,
Try the following:
1. Create a backup (or just archive) of the config file (in this directory: C:\Users\CurrentUser\AppData\Local\PTC\)
2. Delete the current config file (in this directory: C:\Users\CurrentUser\AppData\Local\PTC\)
3. Run Mathcad Prime again
Please see my reply to you on LucMeekes thread.
I made progress but need help on the license file error(s).
Regards,
Karl.
