Can't install MP1.0b

Can't install MP1.0b

I can't get the program to install to my primary computer, though it did install on a different machine.

The error message I get is:

"The system cannot open the device or file specified."

When that dialog box goes away I get another one which states, among other things, that "The error code is 2755."

I'm running WinXP Pro SP3 on a Dell Inspiron 9400, T2400 1.83 GHz. I have the latest .NET stuff. My anti-virus program is Symantec AntiVirus ver. 10.1.6.6010, scan engine 81.3.0.13.

XP Pro SP3 on Dell Latitude D531 TK-55, Symantec 10.1.5.5000 81.3.0.13 runs, but crashes often.

Windows 7 RC (32b) on HP Pavillion Q8200, running NAV, crashes occasionally as well.

So far, I am running OK. Windows XP Pro SP3, updated .NET, Dell Inspiron 9400, ZoneAlarm Pro.

The thing I did notice a change in the Help system, but will note that under a different thread.

Guy, Eden, and Rich,

Are you still having problems installing and running the software? If so, please send an email to the -.

I think I figured it out, though it's weird.

I automatically encrypt the data files on my hard drive, using WinXP Pro's file encryption property.

When I placed the file in a different directory and removed the encryption, the program installed.

No, everything's running, Seems to be more stable on XP than W7RC.

The only problem that I had with respect to installation is one that I mentioned right away with the Help error (48, not sure?). And Help actually looks different now from the way it looked right after installation, so I am thinking that there was a need to reboot right after installation. Right after installation the other day, Help looked a bit strange; now it looks much as I expect it to.

I also had a 'problem' with help and tutorials as well.
I noted that a cmd window came up during install. On pc restart there was an MS update waiting install... not sure if a factor.
Also the tab with the help and tutorials don't work either, but the (?) button does (onec I found it / re-read the instructions 😉

Problems have been reported.

I had a problem installing in 'normal' Mathcad folder (C:\Apps\Mathcad\...) but it went in happily in the 'default' C:\Program Files\Mathcad\...)
