When will MathCAD Prime 2.0 be available for student purchase and will it also come bundled with MathCAD 15? I'm currently a MathCAD 14 user (very happy) and I am considering upgrading to Prime 1.0/MC 15 but will also consider waiting until Prime 2.0.
Also, are there any future plans to make this software available for Mac?

Wait for 2. The differences between 14 and 15 are small, the differences between Prime 1 and 2 are significant. Release dates are still ????
See what is new in Mathcad Prime 1.0:

Just note that Mathcad 15 cannot be installed on a workstation currently running Mathcad 14 (you must uninstall Mathcad 14 before proceeding to install Mathcad 15). And of course wait for the version of Prime 2.0, is to upgrade at it.

I think that such plans for the future aren't present. You may be interested this discussion "Will PTC ever port Mathcad to Max OS X?". And there you can find a "Mathcad Prime Roadmap" (from 1.0 to 4.0 version).
P.S. How users work in Mathcad on Mac: http://communities.ptc.com/message/22407 ; http://communities.ptc.com/message/154288 .
Unless you use a very limited feature set in Mathcad 14, Prime 1.0 is not an upgrade. Even in Prime 2.0 there are many missing features compared to Mathcad 14.0. How much that matters to you depends on which features you currently use.

There is a "russian version of Mathcad" for Linux and for some Pocket Computer too - see http://en.smath.info/forum/

I hope this answers some of your questions.
Hi Anna,
Does Mathcad Prime 2.0 incorporate opening of files formatted under previous versions of Mathcad without having to invoke the converter separately. It becomes otherwise too tedious when we are expecting a seamless transition.
Unfortunately not. It is the same as Prime 1.0.
Mike
Hello,
With Mathcad Prime 2.0, you do have to use the converter to open files from previous versions of Mathcad, except for Mathcad Prime 1.0 files. However, if you need to convert a large number of files you can batch process the conversion.
I did some sleuthing and am happy to report that the Student Edition of Mathcad Prime 2.0 will be available at the same time that the regular version is.
And what about a StudyWorksPrime? With Price 100$!
Valery,
What's the pricecompared by a maintenance license of Prime 1.0?
Mike
I'm interested in knowing when Prime 2.0 is available as well. I need to buy MathCad as soon as possible; as my one month trial runs out rather soon, but I need to wait for Prime 2.0.
But as the first module of my degree starts in a week, I really need to have active MathCad.
I don't really see the point in paying twice for Prime 1.0 and the upgrade to 2.0, especially as I really can't afford two payments.
Any idea of what I should do in the meantime?
Thanks,
Nicola
Hello Nicola,
I think you have two options. The first option for you would be to download the Mathcad Prime 1.0 Free Trial again (you can download this trial twice). However, bear in mind that Mathcad Prime 2.0 will be launched in February so if you re-download the trial, there may be a period of time that you don't have access to the software.
My best advice to you would be to buy Mathcad Prime 1.0 now if you require Mathcad in the long term. As a maintenance customer, you'll get the latest version of Mathcad as it becomes available, so when Mathcad Prime 2.0 launches, you will easily be able to upgrade for free. Maintenance is for 1 year and will be included in your payment. No worries about having to make two payments.
I hope this answers your question.
Have a good day,
Anna
