Hello,

Please see this discussion: http://communities.ptc.com/message/191030

Thank you!

You're welcome.

I install Mathcad 15 in Windows 8 64. The trick is it will give you around 15 error messages. Just click ignore. A fellow user who is more computer savvy clued me in. Don't know about Prime. I prefer the classics whether it be software, music, etc.

I try to install Mathcad 15 in Windows 8 64. But I get this errormessage.

Hope someone can help. Thanks

Hello,

What type of license do you use ("floating" or "locked" license)? And also please see my comments here: http://communities.ptc.com/message/191657#191657

At the moment I'll use an Trial license. But I get an locked Students license from the universitiy.

Try now if your link will help. Thanks for the fast answer.

EDIT:

I tryed to run ptcsetup.exe with compatibility mode win7. So I Have an normal instalation, but I can't get an Trial licens. I get this error.

So I Cancel the License setup. And copyied the trial license witch I have from the win7 instalation. At it works. So my question: If I order the license and and copy it in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Mathcad\Mathcad 15\licenses it should work.

Anyway you can just reinstall Mathcad and point to the license file.

The solution is simple,

1) find the installer at D:\mathcad\MathCad15WixInstaller.msi

2) right click on this file and click Install, It will take a while but will install eventually.

I am a Windows software developer with many years of experience. PTC should be ashamed of this install experience.

It looks like the setup launcher has issues with WIndows 8.

I ran the installer, it failed.

I ran it again with XP SP3 compatibility, it failed.

I went to the PTC support page and found out I need to register to see the support pages.

I registered,

I searched on Windows 8 Matchcad, several listings appeared. I clciked on a couple, site told me I can't see them for some reason.

Then I googled the problem and found this listing. The most misleading collection of meaningless statements I have read in a while.

PTC support is supposed to clean this kind of garbage up and turn it into something usefull.

How are college students who are not IT trained supposed to figure this kind of thing out ? If this steaming pile of software was not required by a university, no one would purchase it.

When you pay $$$ for software, the install experience should be straight-forward. A posting of compatibility issues and work-arounds should be available.
