Mathcad Attachments

Hello,

As you may have seen, there is a recently introduced bug that is affecting Mathcad file attachments. We are investigating with the assistance of Khoros but are having trouble reproducing the issue. So, I was hoping a few of you might be able to help us out. If you are posting an attachment, could you try first without zipping the file. If it fails, go ahead and use a zip file but message me with a link to the post and description of what happened.

Additionally, if any of you have issues with attachments and have the opportunity could you try adding attachments from a different device on a different network and let me know the results.

Thanks!

OK, here is a simple test file from Prime 11. It contains just one text region.

When I try to attach it the file name very shortly flashes up in the attachment region but then disappears as if I would have done nothing. No error message whatsoever.

The effect is the same whether I use the "browse" link or try doing it via drag an drop. Terry had reported in a previous thread that the “browse” link did not work for him, but drag and drop did.

I attach the file zipped and will try in a moment to attach the very same file from a different computer on a different network using a different browser (here I used FF, OS is Win10).

Here I am again. Different network, different computer, different browser (Chrome), same OS (Win10).

Funny! "browse' did not work but it looks like drag and drop did.

Will try again here using FF...

Opened this very post in FF now, renamed the file to upload and neither "browse' nor drag and drop worked. zipping of course again did the job.

BTW, I notice that the message "Virus scan in process..." is showing up much longer than it used to be. Remember that the whole buggy behaviour started with virus scanning never stopping and in the act of fixing this bug the new bug with the failing Mathcad/Prime attachments seems to have been introduced.

Will now switch to my main machine again and give it a last try using Chrome...

OK, I reopened this post in Chrome using my main machine as at the start. Renamed the file again (Test3) and while the "browse" link failed, drag and drop again seemed to have worked. Unfortunately the browser I'm used to is FF 😉

So both computers on both networks showed the same effect:

In Firefox both "browse" and Drag%Drop failed

In Chrome "browse" fails, but Drag&Drop worked

Will try now here with Opera...

So I opened this post now with Opera: "browse" failed but Drag&Drop worked  (Test4.mcdx)

Hi Andrew,

Just to reiterate, browse does not work, drag and drop works.  Sometimes with drag and drop it hangs on virus checking but If I close browser and open again the file has successfully been attached.  Works as zip file.

OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

Version 10.0.22621 Build 22621

Chrome

Cheers

Terry

Thanks that's very helpful. I'm trying with Firefox myself now.

And editing on Chrome

Obviously you had no problems with FF (browse or drag&drop?).

We had a similar problem with Mathcad/Prime files when the forum software migrated to the one used now.

Mathcad/Prime files could not be uploaded directly, but we got an error message at that time - something about an "invalid file format" I think. Nonetheless some people were able to upload. The big was fixed finally but it took a Iong time. I can't remember if it ever was reported whyt exactly the cause was. I vaguely remember that people being able to post never had legacy Mathcad installed and so were missing some entried in the registry which made the upload work. But I can be wrong about that.

Could not find threads to confirm this. Maybe someone else here has a better memory than I have...

I used browse since that seems the most problematic. There is a similar bug to the old one you describe right now with PRT files and users have been using zip files on the Creo boards. I don't think it is related because it started earlier and actually gives an error message, but I will bring it up.

Interesting that it works for you without problems.

I guess you have not installed legacy Mathcad and Prime on your machine?
