The issue that I am experiencing might be an old and known issue but I just can't seem to find a solution.
I have been using Mathcad for the last 15 years with the licensing and support being maintained by my employer. I have a locked license which I need to transfer to my new PC.
My employer however did not renew the support account so I cannot access any help or advice from there.
I was really hoping someone can assist me as I am unable to use the software at the moment although an active license exists. The host ID just need to change.
I tried looking up the existing license/host ID/contract number etc but nothing could be found.
Any suggestions or assistance would really be appreciated
You should be able to find all about licensing and their transferral here:https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad-Installation/All-About-Mathcad-Software-Installation/td-p/706433
but you should first read this:https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad-Tips/Official-PTC-Mathcad-15-and-Prime-1-6-End-of-Sale-Announcement/ta-p/818870

Thank you.
I have explored all avenues but just can't get it working.
Do you think it is because Prime 3.1 is not supported which prohibits license transfer as well?
I just cannot understand why it should be this challenging to transfer a license on a PAID product.
I would appreciate any other suggestions.

Hi,
maybe following procedure enables you to move license.
To be able to execute it you must have PTC account linked to you company. This account must have a right to do licensing changes.
To display account properties go to https://support.ptc.com/appserver/common/account/secure/wamMain.jsp page.
Thank you.
I received feedback from PTC that indicates my license cannot be moved to a new Host ID because the support/maintenance contract was not renewed,
This to me is ridiculous seeing that I have a perpetual Mathcad license which was bought with the idea of using it for as long as I am able.
Apparently this is not the case as PTC is forcing us to maintain the support contract, although the need of it becomes greatly reduced as one becomes more confident and knowledgeable on your specific applications and methods. So the support contract would be instated for one reason only and that is to move or manage the product license.
The problem that I am facing now is that prime 3.1 is not supported anymore, so I would assume a subscription-based contract would be proposed/required on the new/latest product which would have to bought as well.
To me this is an unethical way of doing business extorting seasoned clients as much as possible.
I have no choice but to re-evaluate the need for PTC Mathcad specifically and to research other similar products.
Any other comments or recommendations would be appreciated.
Hi,
another solution ... your IT can create virtual machine with network card physical address equal to your current Host ID. Inside this virtual machine you can install MCP 3.1 using your current license file.
