Mathcad for Structural Engineers

Hi

I've put together a series of Worked Examples using Mathcad.

These are aimed at for Structural Engineers in Australia and New Zealand as they cover AS/NZS Standards, although the general principles apply globally.

Welcome to PTC Community, Andrew!

And yeah, your videos are pretty good.

I manage the Creo and PTC Mathcad YouTube channels for PTC, as well as all PTC Mathcad marketing in general.

Hi

I have a long form seminar going through several worked examples: Warm Roof Load-Span Tables

This goes into the more advanced features of Mathcad, including:

  • Arrays
  • Matrices
  • Matrix mathematics (with a little programming)
  • Plots & Charts
  • Exporting to Excel
  • Reading from Excel

The last part includes an embedded Excel sheet. This function no longer works properly with Excel 365. Something to do with revisions to OLE which means that Mathcad doesn’t support embedding Excel 365 into Mathcad.

On the Mathcad forum, some have suggested workarounds

However, the READEXCEL function still works, so I can use a workaround.

I will eventually break this video down into its component parts for some short video.

In the meantime, subscribe to the channel, leave a like and comment.

This is the final part of a series of 5 seminars on the topic of Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). This time we look at how we derive the load-span tables for composite panel to be used in a warm roof. There is no spreadsheet for this. We'll be using Mathcad to derive the transformed section ...
