Yes, I actually did miss that you had switched to an invisible font in the "better" example.
However that proves my point about looking rather than assuming!

This one does not even have an assignment that's made to look like an evaluation. There is nothing in the worksheet other than the one evaluation shown, and no space characters, no invisible fonts, no empty literal subscripts. Nothing else; just the one evaluation, as shown:
