This worksheet using PTC Mathcad performs calculations to measure the traffic flow and evaluation assurance level for normal trucks and construction vehicles. The EAL is a security evaluation that measures functional, structural, and methodological efficiency for an IT system and in this instance is applied for vehicles. To begin the worksheet evaluates the evaluation assurance level for a paved road for construction truck traffic. In this instance the construction period is one year, there are 4 trucks per day, the gross vehicle weight is 54000, and there are three axels per truck. In this example the author calculates the weight per axel and the Equivalent (18 Kip) Daily Load Applications (EDLA).
Next the same evaluation assurance level calculations are made for normal traffic on a paved road. Again, the weight per axel and the Equivalent (18 Kip) Daily Load Applications (EDLA) are calculated for. The EAL for normal trucks is calculated per year and per day. For the Mesa County Minimum EDLA, the daily EAL meets the criteria.
All notation, formulas, calculations, and solutions, have been provided to help you in your own calculations.
