It's not just the symbol that changes. Superscripts don't appear as such; zeros are inserted into cells that contain nothing, but where other cells in the row contain text. The font changes completely. If you use Insert component instead of READEXCEL you can, at least, see the originals. However, even here, by the time it becomes Mathcad data the fonts have changed.
