You're taking physics, so what unit does "m" stand for, and what unit does "s" stand for?

It's an acceleration. You should read it as (m/s)/s, the rate of change of velocity (which is m/s). It is more commonly written as m/s², although (m/s)/s is conceptually more accurate.
