A tuning fork vibrating at a frequency of 512 Hz is held over the top of a jar filled with water and filled with a tap at the bottom. If the jar is 60 cm tall and the speed of sound is 350 m/s, determine the possible resonance position(s). neglect end correction.
I calculated lamba =v/f. but then got stuck after that.
What is the requirement for resonance?
Im am not sure what you mean but,
Im Failing to determine when to stop. This is what i did. When n = 1, wavelength =(4/n)*l
wavelength 1 =2.4m, and the F1= 350 / 2.4m =145.8hz.
then wen n = 3, wavelength 2 =0.8m, F2=729.2. SO when do i stop the calculations because the question says "determine the possible resonance positions"???
The above question was intended to provoke thought, perhaps to suggest a line of inquiry.
If you want the problem solved, you're going to have to do more than calculate the wave length of the sound waves.
