ModuleWorks to replace Vericut

ModuleWorks to replace Vericut

Hi all, just read this in article CS226148,

  • ModuleWorks will replace NCCHECK & VERICUT starting from versions below:
    • Creo Parametric 2.0 M210
    • Creo Parametric 3.0 M090
  • Starting from above versions, Vericut won't be available for use anymore
    • To perform material removal simulation, select NC sequence from model tree > RMB > Material Removal Simulation, it will access ModuleWorks
    • The default value of config.pro option nccheck_type is changed to moduleworks
  • Main Reasons of the choice of ModuleWorks is that :
    • It offers the capability to Simulate Material Removal Embedded in Creo Parametric (Only NCCHECK allowed that)
    • It is not limited as NCCHECK was in the past
    • It allows usage of OpenGL libraries used by Creo and improves by this way User Experience (possible smooth rotations of the manufacturing assembly in Creo When Material is being removed in ModuleWorks)

What do you think about this ? Do you know ModuleWorks ?

The solution is to also have hidden config option nccheck_enable_external set to yes.  Credit goes to Jose Coronado.

Opening M100 created projects with Standalone version does not simulate ncl file. I unchecked the "No Animation" option and updated the APT setting cycle definitions. Starting play will process through the file all lines finished, but no material removal or tool display.

Is there any additional settings required? Standalone version was able to process previous version ncl files and projects with no issues.

REF: M100

nccheck_enable_external: yes

nccheck_type: external

Hello, please use the link below, to see a demo the new Material Removal functionality, based on Moduleworks technology. Also, we want to get feedback from those users that already tried the functionality

This session will be next Thursday April 14th, 2016 . From 8:00 to 9:00 AM EST.

Thanks

Jose

I can't connect to the demo, it tells me my username or password is not correct !

can you please try this: PTC

Is this open to the public? If so, What Login do we use?

I know the meeting is not active until Thursday,  but one of the guys here said when you click the link it asks you to login. I just want to make sure our guys are able to see the Webex. We have been waiting for these improvements for a long time.

Thanks?

Todd, it is open to the public. Just click on the link a few minutes before and follow the instructions.

Regards

Jose

Cannot connect with my username and password.

strange, you dont need a user and pwd to enter the meeting.

but you need to register, in the left side . then you get a link

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the webex session.

Regards

Jose

Hi Jose, I managed to connect to the session but unfortunately I had no sound, so I left. Do you think it would be possible to host the session somewhere so we could watch it ? Thanks.

It would make a nice Demo or tech tip but they don't seem to be active any longer. Maybe a free tutorial?

My 2 cents. Also, as of 1/4/17, the application may have been upgraded since this post started.

Qualifier: I was doing a very simple 5X part and not verifying multiple tombstone faces in a horizontal application.

Also, I didn't have machine kinematics active on the part nor did I try to import with part to see how ModuleWorks handles that.

I liked ModuleWorks right off the bat.

Accessing it is far simpler than NCCheck.

It was much more intuitive when saving material removal for next tool.

Manipulating model was very responsive, I didn't like NCCheck for this. We we're using the basic version though.

Jay.

Hello all,

Is there a way to change the color of the simulated surface so I can visually see if a tool is gouging into the model without having the tool stop at every gouge? Like If my tool was cutting too deep and I wanted the color of the gouged surface to be bright red.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Brian

Hello,

I don't think this is possible. The only way to get this, is to click the compare button at the end of the simulation.

Raphael,

After changing the compare feature several times. I have a setup that works for me. Thanks for bringing that compare button up.

It seems like a feature that should already be in the moduleworks but it's not. Hopefully next version.

Thanks again,

Brian

This is a drastic move on PTC's part and will effect us considerably.

Many features are not available that we rely on heavily, Z caliper, Auto diff, and remaining stock among the leaders.

Module works taking up the seat of Creo, where Vericut launched in a seperate process, concurrent design and sumulation now is not possible. WIth some of our simulations taking several hours to complete, our effeciency has taken a huge hit.

We were quoted $17,300 for one seat of stand alone vericut, and $1800 per year maintinence.

Please can anybody in the house tell me how I can get the creo parametric software. I need to install it so that I can learn how to do engineering design with it.
