Multiple License Configurations

Multiple License Configurations

Hello,

We recently renewed our maintenance and negotiated that 7 of our 8 seats
would be 'downgraded' from Enterprise SE to the functionality that we
use all the time. One seat remains at the Enterprise SE level that all
8 were before.

I know that I'll need to upgrade our installations with 2 PSF files, one
for each configuration. I'll also need to create a way for users to
grab the high end seat when needed while most of the time they get the
downgraded seat by default. That will come at a later time, initially,
I'd like to simply get the license server upgraded and the new licenses
in place.

If I upgrade the license server and license file, how will that effect
how Pro/E launches? I now have our batch files hit proe.exe directly,
no PSF file. What will happen after the license server & license
upgrade?

Thanks,

Doug Schaefer

When you have multiple psf files, Pro/E will prompt for which one you want.

You might want to look at my talk "ProE Admin 101" I gave at PTCUser 2010.

It addresses how to reserve specific licenses for individual users, and how to setup multiple license configurations for the users to pick from when starting ProE.

The user would see a menu like this, showing all the different licenses available:

You set up these choices by adding additional License Configurations when installing ProE.

The talk ProE Admin 101 can be accessed here:
