Multiple Skeletons?

Hello,

I want to use multiple skeletons in an assembly and have
one skeleton reference old parts and the new skeleton reference new parts. I
have the config.pro option MULTIPLE_SKELETONS_ALLOWED set to yes. When I go to
edit the definition for external copied geometer to point to the new skeleton
all the features below fail and the skeletons are basically the same. How can I
have two skeletons reference different parts? We are using Creo 1.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

OK,

Can you clarify a little bit.

My understanding is you have:

*Skeleton_old.prt*
*Skeleton_new.prt*

*Skeleton_old.prt *has a publish feature called "publish_gear"
*Skelelon_new.prt* has a publish feature call "publish_gear" because
skeleton_new.prt is essentially a modifed copy of skeleton_old.prt.

You have parts called:

Gear_old.prt
Gear_new.prt

Gear_new.prt is a modified copy of gear old.
you want to point a COPY GEOM feature in Gear_new.prt to transfer from
Skeleton_old to skeleton_new. after this, you are hoping subsequent
features will auto-reroute to the new copygeom feature...or with minimal
rerouting...

Is my understanding correct?

Yes, Pete.

Maybe you could go back to your orginal/old design, "save a copy" of your
entire assembly with with tagging new names to the skeleton and parts. you
could then make changes to the copied skeleton and parts. Then reassemble
old and new together...

just a thought

Pete

or perhaps "backup" your old assembly into an isolated directory.
implement design changes in your new isolated directory. rename Cad
files in your isolated directory. then bring the old and new designs
together..
