Solidworks formats in PDMLink?

Solidworks formats in PDMLink?

We use both Solidworks and Pro/engineer and have been moving Solidworks
projects into PDMLink using the Workgroup Manager for Solidworks.

We currently have our start parts and drawing formats in PDMLink for
Pro/E and through a config line we can point to PDMLink for those files.
The idea is when you create a part, it will pull the template start part
from PDMLink. I'd like to do the same thing with Solidworks. I opened
a ticket with PTC and the response was to put the file outside of
PDMLink. That was the proposed work around - we'll set up all the users
preference to point to a location on their C drive and put the files on
each machine (automatically pushed, not manually done).

Just wondering if anyone else has done this or if anyone uses both Pro/E
and SW inside PDMLink. I figure we can't be the first ones to run into
this. PTC did say that they are looking into allowing access into
PDMLink through the file system, but it currently doesn't exist. That
is basically what I was trying to do.

Thanks,

Jim
