Creo 4 mechanica, fails to run with an error "The license to run engine is not available" even though they have a license.
Do you have these lines in your license file?
#MECSTRUCENG_STSIM 2 Pro/MECHANICA STRUCTURE ENGINE Creo 4.0 Flt Lic perm
#MECSTRUCUI_STSIM 2 Pro/MECHANICA STRUCTURE UI Creo 4.0 Flt Lic perm
#MECTHERMENG_TH 1 Pro/MECHANICA THERMAL ENGINE Creo 4.0 Flt Lic perm
#MECTHERMUI_TH 1 Pro/MECHANICA THERMAL UI Creo 4.0 Flt Lic perm
We just re-did our licensing for Creo 4 and a lot of things changed, in particular the Simulate entries. The latest license file I got from PTC had the following lines (omitting the "Contract" column)
#MECBASICENG_License 1 Creo Simulation Basic ENG (formerly Pro/ Creo 4.0 Flt Lic 29-oct-2018
#MECBASICUI_License 1 Creo Simulation Basic UI (formerly Pro/M Creo 4.0 Flt Lic 29-oct-2018
This stuff is never fun.
Yes, the license file did have the mecbasic entries
Hello,
please cross-check entries with the contents of license file.
I did and it they were the same.
Strangest thing: User who reported this said it was working fine the following day. Not sure what changed; reboot, hung license maybe.

Hi,
next time please run ptcstatus.bat to see whether Simulate license is free. If it is in use without reason, then restart license manager to free it.
Hello,
check the contents of feature.dat file. See attached document.
