As far as I'm aware you set the duration for checking on licesnse status. We are running every 30 min and assume if you've been idle that long and someone else need a license they can grab it. Any sooner and you run into problems.

GTHTNGvy8

get this AT LEAST 1'ce every five minutes, AT LEAST.

and what is your duration setting..

GTHTNGvy8

(To:scampbell)

what's that and where do I find that?

Its a time-out value in either the lmadmin or lmgrd settings.. Ive attached a similar document from back wehn PTC used FLEXnet to show how it is used.. I'll keep looking for the setting but your cad manager should be able to find this setting.

Use the configuration option suppress_license_lost_dialog

now that I try to install:

https://www.ptc.com/en/academic-program/products/free-software/creo-college-download/thank-you

pdf: http://apps.ptc.com/schools/references/install_creo4_unistudent_standard.pdf

I get an error when installing with:

BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL

it just says error after clicking install licence ... sign in....

ehhhh.... 😞

Hi,

when you get error, look into C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing directory. Is there any file inside it ? Can you see BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL_license.dat file ? Did you receive this file via email ?

If you can see BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL_license.dat in C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing directory, then:

  • uninstall Creo 4.0
  • install Creo 4.0 (new clean installation)
  • do not enter Product Code
  • put path to license file into Source field
  • finish installation

I got one from my mail ant it does not work! it says invalid file or format

sw_license_email_3398296.dat

the one I used I got from somewhere...

BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL_license.dat

I am 100% sure that the username and pass are correct.

the PTC folder in prog.files is empty

...

I used a licence to install "also got it from my mail!"

and now I am at error 0x06000012

and trying to find a solution + befor crashing, it is telling me that the licence

is floating, retry again, then ok, the click ok on the error and the program shuts down.

I am in love with cre, having grate times.

Are you using the student version or the professional version?

Did you install the FlexNet licensing?

I frequently have problems with the FlexNet licensing. (I hate FlexNet.) When FlexNet refuses to recognize your new license, you often have to do the following:

1. Copy the server lines from your old license file into the new license file.

2. Rename the new license file to license.dat.

3. Shut down the FlexNet service.

4. Move the new license.dat file to the appropriate folder in the FlexNet installation.

5. Restart the FlexNet service.

These issues are why PTC went to "simplified" licensing, but I had issues the other night when I upgraded my Creo 4.0 from M020 to M030.

no services in the name of FlexNet to shut down.

and no installations in the name of FlexNet.

Hi,

1.] sw_license_email_3398296.dat from email ... invalid file or format

This means that you saved license file improperly. Its contents must be similar to BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL_license.dat.

2.] BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL_license.dat ... got from somewhere...

It looks like you downloaded the file from Internet ... and its contents does not correspond with MAC address of your network card.

3.] The PTC folder in prog.files is empty

Did you really enter C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing path into address field in Windows Explorer ?

any1 know what te attached file is "saying"

I used: setup-schools.exe

I installed and got this *after a restart and a clean install*

I located the licence, i replaced it with the one I got in the mail: did not work

I replaced it and changed it's name; it did not work.

I replaced just the "text" withought changing the name, nothing.

Hi,

BE400407EDSTUDENTEDK12 belongs to Creo 3.0 (version number 34.0).

To get Creo 4.0 license,

K-12       students can use Product code BE410708EDSTUDENTEDK12
University students can use Product code BK410705EDSTUDENTUNICL

IMPORTANT:

Do not forget to remove all files from C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing directory before you start installation.

1 of 2, the school downgraded/ended the licence

or I had and used creo 4.0 with magic.

when I enter the "4.0 licence nr. I get an error"

whe I install using the setup-schools.exe it installs fine,

but I get the same error message!

Also I get an email saying: .... bla bla:

and start all over 😞

Hi,

do not use setup-schools.exe, it uses wrong BE400407EDSTUDENTEDK12 Product Code.

In August-2017 I did following:

  • I removed all files from C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing directory
  • I run setup.exe from Creo 4.0 installation media
  • I entered Product Code BE410708EDSTUDENTEDK12
  • I finished installation
  • in C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing directory, there was BE410708EDSTUDENTEDK12_license.dat file
  • inside the file there was CREOPMA_SchoolSTD4 license (version 35.0), it enables user to run Creo 4.0

did you not have to log in after entering: BE400407EDSTUDENTEDK12

because after I do that, I get an error!

Error in license Prosessing. Please contact PTC License Managment.

Hi,

1.]

I do not understand why you use Product Code BE400407EDSTUDENTEDK12. I suggested you to use BE410708EDSTUDENTEDK12.

2.]

In the past users got error message after entering Product Code. Later they received license file via email and use it during installation (they skipped entering Product Code and put path to the file into Source field).

Martin Hanák

after an aganizing chain of errors MartinHanak @ Level 17 solved it 😄

for the 1. error.

License exist, license os lost...
save, exis, retry
retry> warning: regaines floating license; you can resume working

Not sure, but uninstall PTC and delete everything under C:\ProgramData\PTC

Just used Creo and got the message, dont know if I still have it, will update after some hours use.

For the 2. error:

Error in license Prosessing. Please contact PTC License Managment.

which was the root of all, I go to collage, and therefor I thought that I'd use the

license for the univercity. Wrong, use the 12+ ...

If I go to:

https://www.ptc.com/appserver/lm/programs/licensing_programs_v.jsp

My product code there is:

BE400407EDSTUDENTEDK12

and using that gets ... Error!

Using the provided code fome @MartinHanak fixes it

This one: BE410708EDSTUDENTEDK12

For the 3. error:

error 0x06000012

The program crashes after that message appears, after my last install I did not get a message like that!

So a clean install may help.

NB! Remember to clean: C:\ProgramData\PTC

Allow me not to mark the tread as solved yet, I still have the licence check ever min. or so.

🙂

Hi,

I think you have to clean parametric.psf file located in CREO4\Parametric\bin directory. Make a backup copy of this file. Open the file in Notepad and check following lines. If they contain more information than described below, clean them.

ENV=PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE-=path_to_license_file

ENV=CREOPMA_FEATURE_NAME=CREOPMA_SchoolSTD4 ()

@DaveMartin

Use the configuration option suppress_license_lost_dialog

That results in a prompt that says that this setting will only work for the

"current session" and asked me to save the settings to a file called: configpro

What I did was the following:

open the exported config.pro and found one line:

suppress_license_loss_dialog yes

What I did was that I searched for files called config.pro with a 3. Party app called Everything.

I found "see the attached file"

The three folders at the top had:

C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 4.0\M030\Common Files\creo_standards\config_files
config.pro
config_inlbs.pro
config_mmks.pro

C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 4.0\M030\Common Files\creo_standards\config_files_schools
config.pro
config_inlbs.pro
config_mmks.pro

I edited all of them by adding the string:

suppress_license_loss_dialog yes

under the string: suppress_appearance_message yes

!
! ***** Misc Options *****
!
.
.
.
suppress_appearance_message yes suppress_license_loss_dialog yes tolerance_standard iso
.
.
.

I left my PC for about 45 min. came back and there are not messages any more...

I am starting a new project and will report anything odd I might encounter....

so far so good though 😄

Hi,

when you launch Creo 4.0, it reads the contents C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 4.0\M030\Common Files\text\config.pro file automatically. If you need to configure Creo, use this file. For the first editing use Wordpad (because the file has UNIX-like line ends). For following editing you can use Notepad.
