Making A .frm File with Two Pages

Hello,

When I make a drawing of a part, we are making it two pages as the second one is same for all including general information. I have a question. Can I make a .frm file and make a drawing with that format to have 2 pages? I do have .frm file for the first page for general title block and another .frm file for second page to insert after manually creating second page at the drawing. What I need create a two page .frm file and when I call it at the beginning it will create desired two page drawing without need of creating second page afterwards.

Please ask if it is not clear for you. I will give my best to explain it better according to your questions.

Thank you.

Adding a format to a drawing can NOT create another drawing sheet. Formats only apply to the active sheet.

What you need is a drawing template. Search in Creo help for drawing templates.

To Create a Drawing Template
1.Click File > New. The New dialog box opens.
2.Click Drawing, and then type the name of the template you are creating or accept the default.
3.Select the Use default template checkbox (selected by default), and then click OK. The New Drawing dialog box opens.
4.Click Empty or Empty with format.
If you click Empty with format Under Format, specify the format you want to use. Then click OK. A new drawing is created with the specified format.
If you click Empty Under Orientation, specify the template orientation by clicking Portrait, Landscape, or Variable. For Portrait or Landscape, choose a standard size under Size. For Variable, specify a size using the Width and Height boxes, and specify a unit by selecting Inches or Millimeters.
5.Click OK to create the template.
6.Click Tools > Template to enter drawing template mode
7.Click Layout > Template View. The Template View Instructions dialog box opens.
8.Type the view name or accept the default, and then specify the view orientation.
9.Specify view options and view values in the Options and Values areas.
10.Click Place View and select the location of the General view.

11.To place additional views, click New, type the new view name, and orient the new view. Specify the view options and view values of the new view.
12.When you are done placing all of the desired views, click OK. Save the template.

Actually, it is some stated on the website as:

I need two pages of .frm file so that I can call it at the start and I will have multiple pages without need of creating second page afterwards.

After posting this one, I tried to create a .frm file with two pages. When I insert it on a drawing Creo asks which page to call: "Enter sheet of format you wish to use". But I need to use both as first and second page.

Thank you.

Just use or set a different 'template_drawing' where the drawing file is located in 'start_model_dir'. If you have the other template you can also, if you uncheck 'Use default template', select any other drawing template in that folder.

A frame and a drawing can have both multiple pages, but only one format sheet can be active and will have no impact of the number of pages.

But you can have A at sheet 1, B at sheet 2 , or A0 at sheet 1, and A1 at sheet 2, and so on, Now by selecting the sheet numer of your frame file you have resized your drawing, in this case you have all formats in one format file, and only one file to manage on updates!

Thank you for your reply. I have struggled to fully understand your suggestion. Maybe I can tell what I have so that you may point out the missing brick:

- I have format located in format_dir. It has two pages.
- When I create a drawing of a part I start with empty with format selection. After that format files asks which sheet to use.
- I select 1 and first page of format is used with first page of the drawing. If I hit "+" button at the bottom another page of drawing created. That second page of drawing has the second page of the format.

What I need is create 2 pages of drawing when I select a format with two pages. Can it be done?

Thanks again.

I will look for it. Thanks.

A format can have 2 sheets in it. One for the first sheet and a Sheet 2 for all subsequent sheets. On our formats, the secondary sheets had a reduced titleblock to allow more space for drawing views.
