I am working on a rather large assembly drawing, and I keep having issues with piece part datum planes showing on assembly orthogonal views. I have gone into the drawing tree and erased these datums from the views, but when the drawing is checked in to PDMLink, they reappear. Is there a setting somewhere that would allow me to turn off part datums in assembly drawings? Any ideas would be appreciated.
This drives me and my group crazy. If you have layers in your parts, turn those layers off in your assembly drawing.
Also, vote on this idea to make the default on showing and erasing datums.
"Set Datums" should be hidden by default when placing a new view on a drawing.
Try:
auto_show_3d_detail_items no
Also consider voting on this idea:
Add config option to prevent piece part gtols from showing up on assembly drawings
To be blunt, auto_show_3d_detail_items no doesn't work worth **** on large assemblies. It handles a very small percentage of datums. If I'm not mistaken, it's more for annotation elements and also associated to "parallel to view" that. I would say that 67% of GD&T datums are not parallel to the screen and that it is only those datums that show in any given view because the datums parallel to the screen are worthless in that view.
