Collaboratory Files?

Has there been a change in the formatting of the saved *.mcd files? I asked our MIS if the blocking rules at my organization have changed and was told no. Historically I have been able to download Mathcad worksheets but recently recieve the message:

Trend Micro InterScan for CSC SSM

The following file is detected in HTTP traffic:

File: collab.mathsoft.com/~mathcad2000/upload/xx(1502).mcd
Action: blocked
Rule: Block file type DOS COM

The file named collab.mathsoft.com/~mathcad2000/upload/xx(1502).mcd that you are attempting to transfer has been blocked. Organization policy does not allow this activity.

If my company's security policy hasn't changed, is this a change in the collaboratory?

Regards,
Bill

It's neither a Mathcad file change nor a collaboratory change. Regardless of what you've been told, there has been a change within the blocking rules somewhere along the line. It might not be official, but it's there nevertheless. Possibly there has been an update to the blocked file list that ends up identifying mcd files as belonging to some blocked type, or even a change that blocks things that aren't specifically "allowed".

Or, possibly, although they have not made any deliberate rule change they might have updated the software that does the blocking and there is a bug in that software.

For ALL Mathcad files, or just that one?

It maybe that it is a content based rule that has
been updated for something else (i.e. it thinks it
is looking for an updated virus signature and has
now found one)

Keep hammering away at the IT people. I often get it
at my work. I keep going till it gets solved. I'm
right, they are providing a service 😉

Even Norton decided, last month, that a zip file that I had created 5 yrs ago, contains a Trojan horse only discovered 2 yrs ago.

Eden,
seems to be all - at least the several I've tried.

Still probably something on your end. The collab software hasn't been upgraded or otherwise changed in several years.
