Compatibility of tables between Mathcad and Mathcad Prime

In Mathcad14, the calculation results are output in an array table as shown in the attached image. In this case, if you copy the output table and paste it into Excel, one value is entered into one cell. However, when you run it through a converter, calculate it in Mathcad Prime, and copy and paste the results, all the values are entered into one cell.

Are there any compatibility issues with this behaviour between Mathcad and Mathcad Prime?

Could you please tell me a solution?

(1).png

Yes., copy & paste is severely broken in Prime - or maybe "just" silly and amateurish implemented.

You can select a range of values in a matrix using shift left click and therefore you will also notice that when you copy from a vector/matrix in Prime you can only copy the visible displayed elements and are not able to use scrolling to copy whole vector as we could do in real Mathcad.

Maybe using WRITEEXCEL to export the data can be a workaround for you.
Or you could insert an Excel component in Prime and use the vectors as inputs. Double clicking the component opens it in Excel and you could copy the desired values from there to the target excel sheet.

Life could be so easy - unfortunately not when using Prime...

Thank you for your reply.

In your opinion, would you recommend using WRITEEXCEL or the Excel component?

Also, by default, the Excel component opens a new untitled Excel file.

Is it possible to achieve this behaviour using an Excel file that I have saved?

Sorry, there was a typo.

Which do you recommend, using WRITEEXCEL or the Excel component?

It depends on the state of the original sheet before conversion and how you plan to use it in the future, but generally it's easy to save the original data in an Excel file using WRITEEXCEL in Prime 10, and then process only the necessary parts of it directly from Prime 10 using the EXCEL component. You can read and write with the EXCEL component, and you can use Excel formats and figures from Prime 10. (Or rather, it's like displaying EXCEL in Prime. If someone else changes the original data in Excel, the changes will be reflected by recalculating.

Personally I don't like the Excel component as it blows up and slows down the worksheet. So I would rather prefer the WRITEEXCEL function. The advantage of the Excel component is when you have to provide data for Prime and the data (= Excel sheet) is not changing constantly. Here using the component has the advantage that the Prime worksheet is self contained and you do not need to turn around two files.

Thats the reason why I wrote that you would only use the Excel component to be able to copy the data from the Prime sheet to somewhere else like an external Excel sheet.

And as far as I know its not possible to use an existing Excel sheet in a component.
