Re: An unhandled exception

As per this thread - same issue

Dear Collegue!

I have tried these Resolution but nothing worked!
I have the MathCAD 8 express free version and I can´t open the .mcdx file.
Till today there weren't any Problems opening the file.

The Problem is I can neither open it nor convert to pdf but need the calculations ://
And I am speechless because its a very important file to me and I need it for University.
I would be very thankful if somebody could help me!!!

If somebody could convert it to pdf it would be enough for me.

In kind regards!

You have a picture in that file named (probably) 'Image22.1.png' and (probably) because there are two dots in the file name, Prime stored it as 'Image22.1'. That means it set the extension to .1, instead of to .png. If that is true, it's a clear bug.

I renamed the 'image22.1' to 'image22.png' and corrected the references to it.

Now with that corrected in the Prime worksheet file, it opens.

Please see attached if it works for you.

Thank you for the fast answer and your help!
Now it works!
You´ve made my day!

I just wanted to ask you some further questions:
1) How did you noticed that the point was the problem?
2) How could you solve the problem?

3) I understand that it was a dumb mistake made by me but normaly MathCad the program should solve problems like this on its own, when I try to open my file.
I mean its not that big mistake and it is weird that you set one point wrong and the entire program crashes. Is my assumption correct or not!?!?
Pls no judges I´m not good at computer things I just want to understand it.

I would be glad if you have some time for my questions! No problems if not.
Nevertheless thx for your help!

Gern geschehen. Bin froh das ich helfen konnte.

1. The log file normally states what is wrong. From there it's a search through the worksheet file.

2. Once the problem is spotted, either the offending item can be removed, or repaired.

3. It was NOT a dumb mistake by you, you did not type that '.1' in the internal worksheet data. I am confident it is due to a bug in Prime. Must have occurred due to a sequence of actions; I wasn't able to reproduce it yet. It may help if you state the original file name of the 'image22.1' file that you inserted in the worksheet and/or how exactly you inserted it.

Thank you very much for your detailed answer!

Maybe in the future I can try to solve the problem myself! 🙂
