What is this box and why I cannot edit it?

Mathcad 14. File Attached.

Everytime I double click this box, I cannot type anything in the script anymore and I cannot edit it

what is that box and how to edit it and get out of the selection to edit it?

I dont want to remove or change because I am supposed to change anything in the script other than the input values.

This is a simple Web control List box/combo box. Its disabled, which is the meaning of the black squaer at the upper right corner.

I am a bit irritated as of your screen shot, because when I open the sheet (with Mathcad 15, but I guess this should not matter) I see this;

When enabled this box offers a way to set a string variable TY (with one of the four text strings you see in the picture).

I am not sure why you don't see the options you could chose. May have to do with the error message you address in your other question here.

EDIT: After a second look I don't think it can have to do with the problem to start Excel. BTW, when I double click the first Excel component in your sheet, Excel comes up correctly as expected. But then I am using old Excel 2016 locally installed.

According the problem with the web control:  Could you insert a web control somewhere in the sheet or do you experience an error when you try to do so?

Selecting "Web Control" should fire up the 'Web Control Setup Wizard' where you could select which type of control to insert.

If you experience problems here, you (or your IT) might try some of the options given here:

Solved: Re: Trying to insert radio button - PTC Community

If all works as it should you should be able to edit the box by right clicking it and select "Properties".

Enabling of this box could be done by right clicking it and check "Enable Evaluation".

The variable TY seems to be not used anywhere in the sheet you posted.

Its just displayed later in one place:

where can I find: "regsvr32 *.ocx" from within the Mathcad folder?

I am having the same issue where I cannot add the radio button, nothing happens

looking at my mathcad 14 folder I cannot find "regsvr32 *.ocx"

regsvr32 is a Windows program.

What regsvr32 *.ocx means is that you should try to register all ocx files in the Mathcad directory using the windows program regsvr32.exe.

regsvr32.exe usually is located in the directory c:\Windows\SysWOW64\ but as its in the PATH you should be able to call it from within any directory you are. You will need Admin privileges to do, I guess.

Here is a more detailed description covering MC14 -> Installing Mathcad 14.0 M020 with Add-On Collectio... - PTC Community

Its a long time ago I wrote those suggestions and I hardly remember. I also don't know if I ever was forced to repair an installation or if I simply had collected attempts a user could try from various threads in the forum.

Hope you have luck registering the OLE objects.

BTW, I remember a thread where the cause for OLE objects not working was because the user had uninstalled the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86)" and installed a newer version. AFAIK Mathcad insists on this very version to be installed!
