Issues Using Creo 10.0 Student Edition

I am having an issue accessing Creo 10.0. I had Creo 9.0 but had to update due to my files upgrading from 9 to 10 on my new laptop, so my old laptop running 9.0 could no longer open these files. I attempted downloading creo 10.0 using my schools access, however I am running into an error I do not understand, a screenshot is provided below.

Did you do a clean install of Creo 10 on your laptop by removing Creo 9 first?

The Quality Agent is under the loadpoint in the Creo/Agent folder.

Yes, At first I attempted upgrading to Creo 10.0 but that gave me a licensing error, I immediately then wiped my computer of anything Creo related and tried a fresh install and am now receiving this error.

Hi,

1.] uninstall PTC Quality Agent item

2.] install it using CR10_install_package\install\addon\qualityagent_64.msi

Where do I find the quality agent to uninstall it? I cannot seem to find it.

Hi,

try skipping step 1. and do step 2., only.

Note: You can also search your disc for  qualityagent.exe file to locate PTC Quality Agent installation.

I went and downloaded the quality agent as told, I believe, by searching for qualityagent.exe in my drive. It did not do anything. I am still recieveing the same error. Unless, I downloaded it incorrectly, this did not do anything.

Hi,

it seems you didn't understand me.

1.] Please search your disc for qualityagent.exe file and let me know in which directory did you find this file.

2.] If qualityagent.exe file does not exist on your disc then run CR10_install_package\install\addon\qualityagent_64.msi installer to install PTC Quality Agent.

1.

When I search for qualityagent.exe this is the result:

When I click it, this is what appears.

2.
Yes, this is exactly what I did.

MO_10765744_0-1707404190544.png

is the file path I took,

MO_10765744_1-1707404213751.png

is the file that I clicked

MO_10765744_2-1707404247907.png

is what pops up, the only options are to remove or to repair the diagnostic tools. I clicked repair since I cannot click anything else, and it changes nothing.

Hi,

1.] It looks like PTC Quality Agent is installed correctly.

2.] Open File Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\PTC\DiagnosticTools\x86e_win64\obj folder and check whether it contains qualityagent.exe file.

3.] Attach picture of File Explorer window showing the contents of C:\Program Files\PTC\DiagnosticTools\x86e_win64\obj folder to you next reply..

4.] Open C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 10.0.0.0\Common Files\text\config.pro file in Notepad and add following line at the end of the file, save the file.

quality_agent_path  C:\Program Files\PTC\DiagnosticTools\x86e_win64\obj\qualityagent.exe

5.] start Creo 10.0.0.0

Note: I am not sure how Creo handles the space character in the path. In case of problems try following line

quality_agent_path  "C:\Program Files\PTC\DiagnosticTools\x86e_win64\obj\qualityagent.exe"

If this is your computer, you should be able to edit the permissions on folder and make it so you have access to save to the folder.

You can google how to do this.

If it is not your computer or you don't and/or you don't have admin privileges, you can as your IT to help.

Hi,

1st screenshot is OK.

2nd screenshot contains following window:

MartinHanak_1-1707762406738.png

Click Yes button. This will save the config.pro.txt file in Documents folder.

Turn on File name extension option as shown on following picture.

MartinHanak_0-1707762290131.png

Instead of config.pro name you will see real filename ... config.pro.txt

Please remove .txt extension ... correct filename is config.pro

Last step ... copy config.pro from Documents folder to C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 10.0.0.0\Common Files\text folder.Some dialogs will appear... allow saving the file.

Woah. It worked, I can now open Creo 10.0 without the error. I can't express how grateful I am, this has saved me a lot of work redoing my files. I am very grateful, thank you very much! I tested opening my old files as well as making new ones, everything seems to work. Thank you.
