config option to create drawing with new part.

Good morning,
Is there an config option that in an assembly. If I use Edit>Replace>By Copy
that the new component that is being created will have the drawing too. One
of the designers says that he was able to do it before until I gave him a
new config.pro file.

Thanks.

I tried with this config option but the new copied part still has no
drawing.

rename_drawings_with_object both (Drawing and part name have to match)

Any other option before I tell him that it can not be done.

Thanks,

That only works if the drawing and the model are the same name. If the original names are different, the it will not work.

The drawing has to be in the same directory or in session or have a search
path pointing to it also. If Pro can't find the drawing it will not copy
it along with the part.

If I do a File>Save a Copy then it works like it should. The new part that
is a copy of the original has the drawing rename to the new name and linked
to the new part.

But when I am using Edit>Replace>Copy As a component in an assembly it will
not work. The original part is rename but the drawing is not copied.

The weird thing is I can get it to work in an Intralink workspace.

This is really bugging me.

Any help will be appreciated.

We are using Product Point... and I have seen this as well when connected to
it. PTC is aware of this and will supposedly fix it in an upcoming release.

The solution ( work around ) is to have ONLY the Part-or-Assembly in
Session... You cannot have the DRW open or in session when you perform the
saveas.
