Does anybody have "rectcols.mcd" by Thomas P. Magner? It's about Strength of Rectangular Reinforced Concrete Columns. I would very much appreciate if anybody can help me with this file. I had this file but lost it. It used to be available on mathsoft's old community site.

The worsheet in the link above is good. But I am still looking for the one by Thomas P. Magner. He did it by solving for inclined neutral axis.

Often you come across broken links which point to the old mathsoft site. I like to use the wayback machine at http://web.archive.org to try to access those files or pages. It helps if you know the exact location of the file (at the times the site was active).

I had success with the file you asked for - google found at least two different links to that file and so it was easy to let the wayback machine look for the file - I had success at a snap shot from 2006:

Shame on PTC for not making available those old goodies!

Ha! I found the main library page at the Wayback machine. I followed it though to some of the Mathcad files, but of course didn't try all of them.

PTC destroyed that library. Some of it seems to have ended up in the hands of Knovel, who would charge you for it (even though it used to be free!). The rest has just gone. I think giving stuff away for free to your users just does not fit PTCs business model.

I do have the attached sheet. It's from the handbook "Civil Engineering Solved Problems". I have the rest of the book too.

Which you can get to via from the main library page I posted above.

This one is the .exe installer, and there are some problems getting that to run because it looks for older versions of Mathcad. It appears I posted a solution to that though, in the thread you found

Thats interesting. That link seems to work only if called from an appropriate archive.org site.

Yes Richard, this was the issue in the thread I referred to (http://communities.ptc.com/message/30644#30644) and you find two unpacked versions (one you posted yourself) there. Renaming the *.exe to *.zip works pretty well.
