model disappear in canvas

Hi there,

i have a rather complex model (assembly) which has more than 100 components (parts). Therefore I tried to reduce the size of it in Illustrate 6.0. In the end I have a PVZ sized 75.4MB.

I opened PVZ with CREO View Express, works fine.

Then I import the PVZ into Vuforia Studio (8.4.7.4459, with Chrome 76.0.3809.132) with Model widget. Nothing shows up in the Canvas.

Preview, nothing there.

Next, I just publish it. And I can see the PVZ model with View (8.4.7.2286) on my Android.

My question is, why the PVZ doesn't show up in the Canvas of Vuforia Stuio?

How to make the PVZ appear so I can compose the content properly.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Hello Clark,

• Do you have any error reported in log file of Vuforia Studio or in Console in Developer tab of Chrome ?
• When you reduce or increase scale of 3D model or zoom in or out, do you see it ?

I tried with Google Chrome Canary 79.0.3914.0 .

It doesn't solve the issue.

The PVZ remains disappear in the Canvas.

Thanks for the hint.

I got an error in the studio.log:

error: [twx-studio:fileUtils] Error checking zip entries in file C:\Users\USER\Documents\VuforiaStudio\Projects\yyyyy\src\phone\resources\Uploaded\model.pvz Invalid or unsupported zip format. No END header found

As to the scale, it works out fine on  mobile device.

Even I double-click (Zoom All) on Canvas or Preview, still nothing.

• Are you able to open it in Creo View ?

Hi Samuel,

1, CREO View Express won't open ZIP file. Not only this specific project. It couldn't open any ZIP file from former projects those were acting normally in Vuforia Studio.

2, I extract the PVZ from the ZIP file of this problematic project. It works out fine in CREO View Express.

A pvz file is a zip archive.

I suppose that you are talking about a pvs file.

• Can you send me the original pvz file, please ?

I would investigate more deeply on it.

At first, open pvz file in a zip reader software as 7-zip.

It seem this pvz file is correct.

• Is the file imported in Vuforia Studio, in Project, in the uploaded folder ? 

or

• Is it the original and source file imported in the Project ? This file is outside of the Project in another folder.

• What is the size of the pvz file ?

Previously, a similar error message has been reported with big pvz file not completed uploaded.

Hi Samuel,

Size of the original PVZ is 79,126,528 Bytes (74.5MB), both the source and the one located in app\resources\Uploaded.

I tried the workaround which is run the CAD Optimizer,  and it works!

Outputs are 6.58MB, 4.27MB, 3.14MB. Incredibly small.

Each one of them would show up in Canvas.
