How do I extract the shrinkage value

How do I extract the shrinkage value

Does anyone know how, or if it's possible, to extract the shrinkage value from a part, as a parameter?  This has to be stored as a system parameter value somewhere in the model.  I'd like to be able to show the general shrinkage value on our prints.

Thanks,

Rob

@rdevaux

Parameters for Shrinkage are  X_SHRINK_FACTOR/ Y_SHRINK_FACTOR/ Z_SHRINK_FACTOR and these are feature level parameters.

I think Article CS153684 can help you.

Thank you very much MaheshSh.  That works great when using the "By scaling" shrinkage option.  Unfortunately, and what I neglected to mention, is that we use the "By Dimension" shrinkage option in our designs.  Is there anyway to find out what the "All Dimensions" ratio is that is  listed in the "Shrinkage By Dimension" table?

Thanks,

Rob

To obtain information about the shrinkage applied, click Analysis >Shrinkage Information on the Mold or Cast tab.

Hi, and sorry for the late reply.  Do you know how to extract the shrinkage value from the note, so I can populate a parameter?

Thanks,

Rob

Use Tools-> Parameters to open the parameter editor.

Set the Look in option to feature and select the shrink feature

This will display the feature parameters for the shrink feature that can be used in relations, notes, etc.

Unfortunately for me, that only works when you use shrinkage by scaling.  We use shrinkage by dimension.

Thanks,

I do not have access to Pro/Mold at this time and can not investigate this.

In your case does the shrinkage feature have feature parameters? All feature parameters should display when you follow my above example. If shrinkage by dimension does not have feature parameters that would be unexpected.

If there are no feature parameters for the shrink ratio then I would display the dims on the model with shrinkage applied and then use Tools->Relations and then select a dimension with shrink on it. This should show the nominal and shrink dim symbols. If the shrink dim has a unique symbol then you can use that in relations and notes.

Note:

The configuration file option, shrinkage_value_display, determines how
dimensions are displayed when shrinkage is applied to a model. The
possible values of this configuration option are percent_shrink and
final_value.
