I went from Creo 2.0 to Creo 8.0 and I think I have the same problem as you.
I find it frustrating to have to constantly readjust the model tree width.
I am doing several tests but I have not yet completely solved the situation.
Have you found a way to solve the problem?

P.S. It will be my limitation but I have not yet been able to appreciate the file "creo_parametric_customization.ui" gives me more trouble than benefits ...
