Creo parametric animation/mechanics to creo illustrate

Hello,

 

I recently finished a 3-D CAD design utilizing mechanisms and animations from Creo Parametric. I wanted to ask if there would be away for me to utilize this animations and import it to Creo illustrate mainting both the motor movement and constraints used?

If possible I would create the basic animation in Creo using the constraints they have and export it as an .fra file to import into illustrate. Then finish the animation in illustrate adding any annotations, textures etc required.

But it really depends on the type of animation you are creating, I guess.

Hello ZM_.....,

 

I'm going to go out on a limb and say: NO.
The animation of Creo Parametric and Creo Illustrate works in fundamentally different ways.
And in my experience, I would say that Creo Illustrate's animation could be a bit more extensive 🙂

I see I see, but I was thinking it would be so tidious to have to individually animate the gear interaction and the respective translational axis movement if I had to do it in illustrate, because if it was on Creo Parametric I could just set constraints, connection, and mechanisms. Would you have any recommendations for this?

Hello ZM_.....,

Sorry, sorry, I have to correct myself first. I had overlooked the ‘animation’ you mentioned and was therefore referring to the ‘mechanism’ you mentioned.

So yes, Creo Mechanism and Illustrate Animation work completely differently as far as I know. But there is still animation in Creo Parametric. But I have little experience with that.

Now I have tested it briefly using a simple example, and @agarland is of course right, you can export the animation as *.fra and import it into Creo Illustrate. Looks like that's the key. From Creo Parametric Mechanism to Creo Parametric Animation to Creo Illustrate Animation.

I also need this function from time to time and will therefore try it out soon.

Creo Illustrate can import .FRA files which will get you the translation keyframes at least.

There are a few requirements to be aware of though, take a look at the documentation for more information.
To Import an Animation

 

This won't bring everything across but might save a certain amount of reworking.

Regarding this, what would you recommend if I had to make an animation for gears? Since I would need to consider interaction before translational movement and if I had to individually animate the interaction would that not be tidious and hard since the movement would not be accurate.
