Ask the Experts About the Licensing App

I see on the Licensing Host Details page that I can view all the licenses assigned to that host. For any given license type, we have multiple line items with different quantities. Is there a way to get a summarized view, before importing the license file to the system, of all the licenses assigned? Example: Windchill Advanced: XX Windchill Base: XX etc..
We do not current allow our servers to phone home so we are ok with download license files and manually uploading them (12.0.2) for Windchill. Will there be any issues operating multiple production instances (high side and low side) with the new license app? Its the same user base across both instances so previously, this was compliance to the named user license model.
We have 2 Windchill systems, one for unclassified work and the other for classified work. When we upgraded our licenses a couple of years ago, we were told that the licenses can be used on both systems as Windchill is a named user system. I am setting up an upgrade on both sides to Windchill 12.1.2 so will be retrieving new licenses soon. With the new licensing is this still the way going forward?
Special thank you to the community members that have contributed to this "Ask The Experts" session and to the licensing team @JGENTHNER @MaxPoe for answering some real-time questions on this forum. We are going to leave the forum open for additional questions and John/ Max will be checking in over the course of the next couple of days to provide additional information and answers. Have a beautiful, community rest of your day! Jaime Lee
When trying to add some licenses to a Windchill server, I'm getting a required field to add a ThingWorx Device ID? Why is this being required?
Is there any way to view who created a particular host or who made changes to the license allocation? I need some way to know who to talk to about some licensing hosts that were recently created. By the way, the 'Host History' page is consistently throwing errors:
Another question came in! How can an admin create licenses for older versions of the products? Any help on this one?
The existing web interface for license management is pretty confusing to work through and get information from. Is there a map of what the old tool did to what the new tool does to get a better understanding of what's different and better with the new web interface?
Hi, this question just came in on the side. Why might the Product Licenses page indicate that I do not have any products installed?
Hi @JGENTHNER, For the benefit of the community, could you please explain to everyone how the new licensing app works with the existing license download functionality inside Windchill (using credentials to pull a license)? Does a user need to manually create a host and allocate some of their licenses to it before they can download the license file directly from Windchill? If a user manually creates a host and allocates some of their licenses to it (in the new app), will the Windchill download functionality correctly pull that specific license (with the partial allocation), or will it continue to automatically pull all licenses available to the customer? Thanks!
Just wondering if the new licensing app is going to be rolled out to Arbortext products also. Bryon
