Keeping our community experience streamlined and making information easy to find is important to the PTC Community Team! Until 2016, the community team would lock forum threads that were no longer active, adding a note "This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team..." to explain the closure due to inactivity. While this is no longer our practice, it was the policy across all Creo forums at the time it was implemented. Some of these locked threads remain unanswered and offer little impact as knowledge resources. Unfortunately, they still appear in search engine and community search results, which can clutter results and make it harder for users to find helpful answers. To improve the quality of search results, we’ve decided to archive these posts. Once archived, they will no longer be visible to the community. However, they will still count toward members’ statistics for badges and ranks. This archiving will only affect Creo forum posts w
Beginning this month, we will launch a new community archiving program that targets any forum posts over 15 years old. Why archive? The PTC Community has some content that is over 20 years old! It is best practice, especially for a technology related community like this one, to clean out this older outdated content. This way we can ensure search results aren't cluttered with old irrelevant information and prevent community members from being misled by posts that are no longer accurate. What will happen to the archived forum posts? These posts will be moved to an archive where they will no longer be accessible by community members. They will no longer be searchable or indexed by search engines. However, nothing will be deleted, and they will be recoverable. Will user statistics be affected? No. Your post count, kudos, accepted solutions and any badges or ranks you've earned will not be affected by this. If one of your posts is archived, it will still be counted. &nb
In January, we introduced on-demand translation to the community. Over the last few months, we have expanded this feature to more boards and discussion styles. It is now available on all forum, tips, and idea boards. Today, we are pleased to announce the addition of search translation. Here's how it works: Log in: Make sure you are logged in to your account. Select your language: On either the search page or the header search bar, select your preferred language. Enter your search: Type your search query in your selected language. Translation process: Your search will be translated to English and then back to your selected language after the search is complete. The results will also be translated to your selected language. View results: Select one of the search results. The post or article will be translated to the language you selected as well. We hope you find this new feature useful and encourage you to try it out. Let us know what you think!
PTC Community Feedback - PTC Community
We are excited to introduce on-demand translation for the PTC Community! This new feature aims to facilitate multilingual conversations and bring more value to users around the world. Here is the idea: imagine a user from Japan asks a question in Japanese. Another user from the United States can translate it into English and write a response in English. The Japanese user will be able to read the response in Japanese and, in turn, reply in Japanese, etc. Here is how it works: when viewing a conversation, there are two options: translate the entire conversation or translate a single message, as shown below. Additionally, when viewing a board, you have the option to translate the titles of all conversations. Initially, we plan to offer translation to four languages. You can translate from any language to Korean, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and English. If this initial offering proves successful, we plan to expand and include addi
Hi PTC Community! Over the last few months, the PTC Community Team has been working behind the scenes towards improving how we recognize your contributions to our community. Starting Monday, the 4th of November we will be updating our ranking system for a better user experience related to your participation in the PTC Community. The new structure aims to reflect what we care most about: engagement. While we appreciate everyone signing up for the Community, visiting, and utilizing the community content that is shared, we are now placing more emphasis on those who contribute actively and accurately. You will start noticing some shifts in ranking over the next few days while the system takes effect. These changes are designated to offer a boost and well-deserved recognition to those that help others with advice, workarounds, and alternate solutions. Even those that regularly spark great and fruitful conversations standout to both community members and the community ma

Last October we launched a new podcast, The Third Angle to give our customers a voice when we go behind the scenes at their locations. We produce our episodes in a bi-weekly cadence and feature customers across all PTC product lines. This award winning podcast is designed to be immersive and transport listeners on a journey from conception to completion of some of the most inspiring products being developed today. The podcast literally ‘travels the world’, to spotlight engineering genius that has produced flying cars, high-tech football helmets, light sabres for everyday jedis, homes of the future and so much more. The guest’s passion and pride as they explain the makings of their brainchild really hold the listener’s attention. The PTC Community now has a section dedicated to Kepware! Customers are able to log into the community with their Kepware eSupport or My Kepware credentials.
Last month, two new features (unsolved posts and unread discussions) were added to the community member profiles. 1. Unsolved Posts on the Profile Screen The profile screen had only the 5 latest posts with a (.>) to see the full list. . Now you can see the 5 latest posts and the 5 last unsolved posts. How might this be helpful? As you enter multiple questions about your PTC products, you may want a quick list available to you to see your "outstanding" questions. The best way to clear your list is to go reply to your threads and explain how you resolved your issue. Then, you can mark those replies as an Accepted Solution. 2. Unread Discussions Button Some community members wanted an easy way to view discussions that they haven't yet read. We added Unread Discussions button at the bottom of every category and sub-category page. Category pages are the top level community pages of typically each

The PTC Community Team is excited to announce the launch of our new community homepage this week! In addition to a complete brand alignment uplift, the PTC Community Team has been working with UX designers to improve readability and better meet accessibility recommendations. The updates are shared below. The PTC Community is primarily an online support community. Most visitors come to the community looking for help with their existing PTC products and services. In an effort to help new (or soon to be) community members know our community purpose, we've updated our tagline to "Ask and learn from PTC and Industry Experts." New members can easily search the community directly from the homepage and find their favorite content via the navigation menu. Our most popular content can also be accessed via the quick link tabs. In order to engage on the community, registered members must be logged in. (Hint: You know you are l
