In my job I have to draw some pieces that are similar to others. GD&T is very important so we use as reference a similar part to take those tolerances into account and to know what to annotate and what not to. Is there a way to make an automatic drawing or a drawing of a part using the similar part as reference, automatically? Even though I have to adjust some details it will save me a bunch of time.
Yes, based on your description I would propose opening the known good drawing and saving a backup of this to a working directory where you will open the drawing and part, rename them and then make the required changes. You can this save this new variant. You are essentially using a completed part/drawing as a start part and dwg to build a variant.
Be advised that you need to understand how Creo manages models in RAM before you attempt to do this. Once you create the backup files you must delete everything else from session to be safe of overwriting data. If you use Windchill then you will need to pay attention to other things as well possibly.
If you are asking, is it possible to create one master model and use this to drive variations of the design from a single source model then this is also likely possible as well. I would need to better understand the nature of the changes required on the variants to make suggestions on how to manage that.
