Generative Design - Optimization working on Multi-Bodies

I'm running Creo 9 and there is an option to merge bodies. Is that not possible in Creo 8?

In Creo 8, you should be able to merge bodies by using the Boolean Operations feature, which includes Merge, Subtract, and Intersect operations between different bodies in a part. Same in 9 just improved UX.
