Retrieve missing components with changed name

Hello !

I've renamed a few components and Creo 2 won't regenerate the assembly. I've tried to retrieve missing components, but I get "Selected model does not match missing model" when I type the new name on the proper field on the retrieve dialog.

Evidently, I wouldn't be here asking help if I wanted back the old name of the part.

Anyone knows how to resolve this ?

you have to change the name back of the concerned part file from within proe.

then open all the files it is related to..drawing,assembly etc.

then rename the file to the new name..keeping all the related files in session.

Thanks !

I've followed your steps and it worked.

To elucidate:

  • First I've renamed back in explorer.
  • Then, in Creo, I've opened all involved parts (dependencies Must be in memory).
  • Third, as I did not understand well what you meant with "rename the file to the new name" (wasn't clear if you meant on explorer, or on Creo's model tree or elsewhere), I've started searching until I found FIle>Manage file>Rename.

an advice...

do not change the name from explorer, always change it from inside creo only.

when ever you are changing name keep all linked creo files in session.

if the linked files are not in session and file is renamed creo keeps looking for older name.
