When to create WIRE and when to create CABLE

It's Confusing and not clear on when to pick wire option .

For wire option, its not letting me pick already existing spool. Always new spool?

Hi,

It should list all wire spools when you pick the wire option. Are you sure your spools are "wire" Spools?

In my opinion the easiest way to manually handle spools is to create spool library (text files) and read the spools you want to use from the set of spool files. Attached  an an example of my 16awg black wire spool...

To expand on the good info from Lars, a wire is for a single conductor, while a cable is made up of multiple conductors. Refer to help center document About Wires and Cables for more information. You'll also notice in Creating Spools that only cable spools can have a value for parameter NUM_CONDUCTORS and it is required.

We have a nice knowledge hub article for Cabling here. It links to this document Routing Individual Cable Conductors which shows you how to route the individual conductors from a cable. You'll find similar good information in help center document About Routing Cables where it also mentions: "In order for cable to fan out from the cable jacket, it must start and end at locations that are not entry ports. This can be accomplished by routing via a network or adding locations when routing the cable. When autorouting cables, set the configuration option cable_jacket_termination to Network ends*."

The cabling application has a lot of functionality and is even more powerful when used in conjunction with Creo Schematics. If you're looking to do just some basic routing, this article from the knowledge hub mentioned above is a nice start.
