have parts moved to new subassembly contrained default instead of fixed

I design allmost all parts with default constraints.

When moving them to a new subassembly, their contraints are converted to fixed in the new subassembly.

Is it possible to not have this but leave them contrained default?

What process are you using to "move them to a new subassembly"?

select parts in assembly, RMB in the modeltree: "move to new subassembly"

I don't see a way to change that. For users who are not using default constraint, creo "transfers" the existing constraints.

I am guessing that the FIX constraint is used to replace default since the default of the new assy could be different than the default of the top level assy and that is the way PTC decided to make the placement match the original and not move to a new default coordinate system.

I think you will need to ask PTC support if you want a definitive answer.

I always work with only the default constraint and I dont see why its impossible to have at least the possiblitiy to have this taken over by new sub-assemblies that are created from the same assembly. Who knows, one day..
