Creo Illustrate numbering (and renumbering) Item List

All our parts lists are arranged in PN order.  So, we bring in the sBOM and click "Item Tag" to sort by PN.  Once the sort is complete, is there a way to have the software update the Sequence Number and ITM Label automatically in numerical order?  I spend a ton of time numbering the parts list to be in PN sequence order.  If it can't be done automatically, is there a way for me to input the new sequence number, short of clicking the up/down arrow over and over.  This is a real productivity killer when there are 100 or more items in an illustration

Also, once I remove an item (using right-click delete item), is there a way to have Creo automatically update the Sequence Number and ITM Label for the subsequent numbers? Or do all of the Seq/ITM Labels have to be updated manually?

Thanks!

There is currently no way to automatically reorder the item list as you have described.

This would be a good candidate for a product idea: Creo View / Illustrate / Schematics Ideas - PTC Community

There is an option to reset the item numbers after you have deleted an item though.

This will reset all the item numbers to be sequential again.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the reply.

I took one of our simpler assemblies and copied our SBOM to the ITM List, sorted it by PN and renumbered the ITM list (Items 1 - 6)

If I delete all four washers, (Item 3)

The ITM list shows Item 3 deleted.

After I "reset ITM Numbers", it changes the sequence number back to what I originally dragged/dropped from the SBOM, minus the washer that I deleted.

Then I will need to renumber the ITM list again.  Not so bad when I only have a handful of parts, but a real pain when some of our illustrations have over 100 items.

Maybe I am missing something in the process....??

Looking at the steps you have described, I don't think you can (easily) achieve the end result you are after without a lot of manual renumbering. This would need an enhancement to be able to reset the numbering based on a selected column or something like that.

It may be worth looking at using a companion xml file for your sBOM generation as this may help a little, although it won't resolve all your issues.
