Question

"Duplicate Step" does not work in sequences for CI 7.1

Creating a step and duplicating it when making a sequence does not work in Creo Illustrate 7.1 . A new step is created with a correct looking timeline in the keyframe editor but it does not actually play the step.

The current workaround is to create a new step and then copy the timeline from the keyframe of the original step, and paste it into the keyframe editor of the new step.

This is also what must be done if you want to have step 1 to have certain actions and step 2 reverses all of them, you must  use the above workaround and then click "reverse step" on the new step.

Hi,

Can you share an example of a duplicated step that doesn't play?

If not can you give us the exact steps to reproduce the issue and an explanation of what you expect to happen.

Thanks

Here is  video of this happening. The copy/paste result is the result I was expecting.

This is actually working as expected.

What you are seeing is the 'gap alignment' process that is run when you duplicate a step or move a step within the sequence. This gap alignment is designed to avoid part 'jumping' positions between steps after the steps have been reordered or as in your case duplicated.

Here is an article that gives a little more detail on what actually happens and why.
