trial license - HOST ID is not valid

Hi,

I have downloaded the trial version of PTC Arbortext Editor with Styler. The program ask me for the (trial) license key. I tried to obtain the trial license using the PTC website, but the procedure fails: PTC website said me that the HOST ID of my PC is not valid. My hostID begins with "90-1b". How can I solve this problem?

I sent an email to - but I've not received a reply.

FYI we had this same problem with a trial license recently, and PTC Support managed to resolve it.

Hi Matteo,

How are you obtaining your HostID?

You could try looking at your Network adapters MACid details in use and if it is different try this instead?

See: Open Network and share cntr > Local Area Connection > Details > Pysical Address ...

Regards
Chris

On the PTC Support web site, the licensing web tool steps you through the process of configuring your software to your hardware. You need a PTC.com web account login, your Customer Number, and your Host ID code unique to the computer. You can get the Host ID:

  • by running cpu_id.exe from a Windows command prompt (available from the flexlm directory on the installation DVD or download zip or from the PTC support site).
  • the first time you run Arbortext software, if it canโ€™t obtain a license. The Licensing Error dialog box will prompt for license source information and provide the Host ID for the system.
  • by going to the following web page on the PTC support site for instructions:

I follow this procedure:

- I read my ID from cpu_id.exe

- I logon on the PTC Arbortex website.

- I fill the web form of the Arbortext evaluation license, at the following address:

http://it.ptc.com/appserver/lm/programs/index.jsp?program=epiceditor

- When I press "submit", the web site tell me that "your HOST ID is not valid"

My ID begins with "90". In the help page "Determining a Machine's HOST ID" there is a note:

"A valid hostID on a Windows machine has historically begun with either 00 or 08. However it is becoming increasingly more common with newer machines that a hostID from a valid source may begin with some other combination of numbers which may be recognized as invalid by PTC License Management tools. An example of this might come from a newer wireless card. If this is the case please contact PTC License Management or PTC Technical Support for assistance."

So, I think this is the problem.

I would suggest contacting PTC's support.

Either submit a case or call 800-477-6435.

Select licensing.
