Extruding to an angled face problem

Here is a problem I am sure someone will find easy to solve. I have a student trying to extrude sketch 2 (The red shape in the attached JBG file) from its current location to the angled face to its right. However, the shape of sketch 2 needs to follow the angle at the end of the object and stop 3 mm short of the angled face. Ideas? Thanks in advance BTW, i tried to attach the pro-e file (called angled_extrude.prt.1) and because of the .1 it will not attach. It is considered as not being one of the excepted extensions. However, everytime you save pro-e adds the number. Isthere a solution to this? Last tiem I emailed the file to one of the members.

    You can do an extrude to selected, and create a datum plane offset from the angled edge by the desired amount. Alternatively, and I'm just guessing by the appearance of the image, would a shell command be appropriate?

    Jim, It's a little hard to tell from your submission what's going on (what's solid, what's surface, etc.) In any case, there a many ways to do such things, probably two in particular. First create a surface which is offset "inward" by 3mm from the angled surface. Now either (1)create an extruded shape To Selected and pick the new surface, or (2) create an ordinary extrusion, pick its end surface afterward, then select Edit/Replace and again pick the new surface. You could also trim back a longer extrusion using the surface (Solidify). David

    For some reason I get an fttp error whenever I try the second screen shot. I don't get it so I'll explain. For the second extrude I used the Side one as a "blind extrude" to a depth of 75 and the side 2 "to selected" and picked datum 1. The end of the extrude moves t o my selected datum one and still has no angle. My student has solved this problem another way. He extruded sketch 2 through the front of the object then took the front face and extruded it in 3. To make the top round he used the round command to the top surface to match the shape of the top of the work piece. If you can see what I did wrong in the earlier posts I would sure like to know how to do this properly.
