Repeat region and variable text?

Repeat region and variable text?

I'm not sure of the best way to do this, but I know it can be done from a previous job. I would like to create a table where the user can selection options like they would in a symbol and their selections would populate the table. Basically, I'm trying to create a "Applied Standards" table where the user can pick the relevant standards from a list and put them in the table automatically.

What is the best way to go about doing this? I don't really see a way to do it with repeat regions or in the symbol gallery.

Hi @TractorGuy

Thank you for your question.

Your post appears well documented but has not yet received any response. I am replying to raise awareness. Hopefully, another community member will be able to help.

Also, feel free to add any additional information you think might be relevant. It sometimes helps to have screenshots to better understand what you are trying to do.

Best regards,

Well, there may be a few approaches but there's not quite enough information in your question to answer completely. Some additional questions:

  1. Would there only be one standard selected from among many to appear in the 'table' or would you like to pick one or several to appear?
  2. Could this be a symbol which simply appears to be a table (somewhat easier!)
  3. Can there be multiple parameters employed to indicate which standards are/are not selected? For example, could there be a series of "YES/NO" (TRUE/FALSE) parameters for each possible standard? This would open a potential path to using a table with a repeat region.
  4. Do you have Mathcad integrated with Creo (believe it or not there's a path to use Mathcad for this application to feed data back to Creo).
  5. Do you happen to have any macro/mapkey experience, knowledge of trail files, or access to automation tools such as SmartAssembly? (For example, one method would be to create the table you want using a macro/script to generate a CSV file which is then read to create a table automatically).

Maybe if you describe what the process looked like at your previous job, that would help us understand how to recreate that functionality. Or, if you can give further details about the number of standards you're trying to handle and the ideal output you'd like to see, that will also help.

Thanks!

PS: Of course I just realized you may want a toolkit application. None of the methods I considered use Toolkit - which would have far greater flexibility.

Hi @TractorGuy,
