What happened to Symbolics in MathCAD Prime 1.0 ? There are there in MathCAD 15, but not in Prime. Is this feature deprecated or is it going to be added later?

Symbolics were not included in Mathcad Prime 1.0, but will be included in Prime 2.0.

Is there documentation somewhere showing the roadmap of development of MathCAD, where this feature is mentioned. What engine is going to be used? Is it going to be tightly integrated, or loosly like in M15? Is it trying to be like other CAS systems or less?

Actually someone else posted the roadmap, which is about a year old and currently out of date.

Mathcad Prime 2.0 is scheduled to release by March.

We are still determining features for Mathcad Prime 3.0, based on priorities and schedule. We are also planning a Mathcad Prime 2.0 M010 release.

Mathcad Prime 2.0 includes these major features:

  • Symbolics
  • new 3D plots
  • 32 and 64-bit versions
  • Multithreading
  • new Excel component
  • new KNITRO optimization solvers

Cheers for the update Mona,

How are they being prioritsed? Would it be worth creating a thread/Poll and have users within the forum vote?

Mike,

Not at this time, since we are close to settling the features for Prime 3.0. I don't think enough people will be able to vote to make a difference.

The Community is going to add Voting on Feature Suggestion, so people will have the opportunity to vote sometime later this year.

Many things go into selecting features for each release including requests from users.
